Lost Bird Found Project

Updated: Oct 15, 2018

Run by Nicole Miranda.

Nicole Miranda coordinated this wonderful community activity as part of the "Lost Bird Found Project" and in preparation for The Happy Hens to promote their event "Bedlam at the Bay" coming up on Sunday 21st October 2018.

Nicole was a generous host opening her home and studio on two occasions, and providing all the materials and refreshments for everyone. The first afternoon, on Saturday 23rd June, was dedicated to forming the birds out of clay. An enthusiastic group of women created a marvelous variety of bird shapes. After air drying, the birds were carefully positioned and fired by Nicole in her kiln. Many women returned to meticulously paint and glaze the birds on Saturday 18th August. It was another lively and productive afternoon. The beauty of the finished birds was revealed by Nicole at a 'Bedlam at the Bay" meeting at Emma Paxton's home on Saturday 29th September. It was amazing to see the collection of 75 colourful birds, each with their own special personality.

These sweet birds, made with such care, are being placed in cafes and public spaces around Gladesville, Boronia Park, Henley and Hunters Hill. We hope they attract attention and start a conversation about mental health and local community. They are designed to promote our "Bedlam at the Bay - a festival of well being" event and we hope they are found and treasured by people making a mental health connection.
